Maximo Automation Script : Attribute Launch Point

Attribute Launch Point

In IBM Maximo, Automation Scripts provide a powerful way to implement business logic without modifying the core Maximo application code. Here we will see about Attribute Launch Point. An Attribute Launch Point in Maximo allows you to associate an Automation Script with a specific attribute of a business object and execute the script when a configured event occurs on that attribute. Attribute launch point can be used to customize the field validation, action, initialization, and lookups in the scripting framework.

Execution Flow

Events

EventsDetails
Initialize Access RestrictionCalled when setting the metadata, visibility, read-only status, or requirement flags for the field. It runs just-in-time when the framework refers to that attribute.
Initialize valueCalled when the field is initialized to set the default or starting value of the field during initialization.
ValidateCalled when data is entered, modified, or when the user tabs out/exits the field.
Run ActionCalled after the field data is validated, executing custom business logic
Retrieve ListCalled when a user clicks or opens the lookup dialog box associated with the field to populate and filter the available values

Configuration Steps

  • Navigate to System Configuration → Platform Configuration → Automation Scripts.
  • Click Create → Script with Attribute Launch Point.
